My friend Pastor Colby Maier and I went to the movies to see the new Bonhoeffer movie. Today we recorded our reactions, what we appreciated, what we thought was not accurate, and some things we wish were in the movie, but weren’t.
Personally, I liked the movie as a dramatic and artistic portrayal, I didn’t hate it, and I wish they gave more attention to Bonhoeffer the scholar and theologian. But I think it is worth seeing and the sets, acting, and costumes are great for low-budget film.

I have been a fan of Bonhoeffer since I bough Discipleship years ago so I was really looking forward to this movie. I was afraid they were going to lean heavily on the resistance aspect and supposed assassination participation and not show his disgust of the church’s affair with Hitler. But I was pleasantly surprised they did show how he spoke out against that as well.
