An excellent choice to succeed John Barclay and James D.G. Dunn
Grant Macaskill Appointed to Durham's Lightfoot Professorship
Ever since the news was announced that Prof. John Barclay was retiring, I have been eager to know who would be his successor in Durham University’s prestigious Lightfoot Professor of Divinity chair. Today it was publicly announced that Grant Macaskill will fill this role, and I couldn’t be happier.
I know Grant’s work primarily from his engagement with Paul and participation theology, but he has eclectic interests. He has done some really interesting work on autism, as well as the virtue of intellectual humility. It looks like his current research involves deeper study of ancient Jewish and Christian pseudepigrapha. Thrilled all around for Durham and for Grant!
As a father of an autistic boy, Grant has been so helpful. Amen!! Well done.
The work on autism intrigues me. My daughter has ASD. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks.
